Breakaway’s Village Plan is the design of Town Planning and Urban Design Collaborative (TPUDC). Brian Wright, and his team at TPUDC created the initial Breakaway Village Plan in 2005. As a Traditional Neighborhood Development, the principles of New Urbanism are apparent throughout. Designed around a core village center, the overall master plan accommodates a wide range of house types, including cottage, bungalow, treehouse, and villas.

Breakaway’s architecture is based on the style and vernacular of Asheville, North Carolina. Considerable time and energy was invested in conceptualizing the overall style of the community, and developing the Village Code. The “code” provides guidelines for architects and builders as they design homes in Breakaway, ensuring that the home designs create harmony throughout the neighborhood, while maintaining their unique expression of the owner. The Village Code serves an important function in preserving the town planners’ vision for Breakaway as the first new American hill town in 100 years.

The home designs, coupled with incredible outdoor spaces, offer owners a unique palette of colors, materials, and shapes, and help set Breakaway apart as a truly memorable community.
